The Linear Feet Calculator computes the total linear footage around a property or structure by summing the lengths of up to four sides. Enter each side measurement in feet, and the calculator instantly totals them - essential for fencing, baseboards, gutters, trim, and border materials.
Many construction materials are sold and priced by the linear foot rather than by area. Fencing, crown molding, baseboard, gutters, and countertops are all quoted per linear foot installed. Getting the total linear footage right is critical for accurate quotes - a 10 ft error on a 200 ft fence can mean $100-$300 difference in your estimate depending on material.
This calculator handles up to four sides, covering the most common scenarios: rectangular yards (4 sides), triangular lots (3 sides), or simple linear runs. For irregular perimeters with more sides, measure the total length manually and enter it as a single side.
How to Use
- Measure each side of your project perimeter in feet using a tape measure or measuring wheel.
- Enter each side length into the corresponding field (Side 1, Side 2, Side 3, Side 4). Enter 0 for unused sides.
